A Journey of Mind Expansion and Self-Discovery - My Psychedelic Adventures

In recent years, I've embarked on an intriguing journey of self-exploration and cognitive enhancement through the use of psychedelic substances, primarily magic mushrooms, or psilocybin. This has been a conscious effort to defragment my mental processes and rewire my brain for optimized thinking and heightened cognitive awareness.

Let me take you back to the summer of 2015. That was when I first delved into the world of psychedelics, alongside my good friend J Win from Quebec City. This was a significant moment, not just for me, but also for J, as it was when he first moved to Vancouver. We embarked on this experience together, each taking approximately 1 gram of magic mushrooms. The trip, lasting about 4-5 hours, was nothing short of transformative.

During this trip, I experienced an extraordinary heightening of my extra-sensory perception. For the first time, I truly 'felt' my face, an experience that's hard to put into words but was undeniably profound. The aftermath was equally remarkable, as I found myself in a state of euphoria that lingered for several days. This experience opened my eyes to the potential of mushrooms, now being explored for their therapeutic benefits in treating clinical depression through micro-dosing.

Since that initial journey, I've taken several more trips, often aligning them with my yearly nature retreats. These retreats are special - I go completely off-grid, disconnecting from the digital world to immerse myself in nature. No cell phone service, no internet connection, just me and the wilderness. This setting provides the perfect backdrop for profound psychedelic experiences, offering unparalleled mental clarity and zero distractions.

One of my most memorable adventures was during the summer of 2018 when I planned a trip to Shambala with my now-sober friend, J. I took a break from my demanding schedule, embarking on a 10-day road trip from Dawson Creek to Salmo via Kamloops. The experience at Shambala was initially challenging, given the lack of connection with anyone at the festival. However, I thrive in making connections, and this time was no different.

While exploring the festival, I met Skye, a beautiful soul, both inside and out, who instantly reminded me of my sister. We formed a 'Shambala family' along with her friends - Steven, Panda Bear, Jill, Kayla, and Tyler from NorCal. It was with this newfound family that I first tried pure MDMA and a half tab of pure LSD. During this 'acid trip,' I found myself expressing my inner thoughts and feelings through art, creating what I now call 'The Dancing Conehead'. You can see this piece on my Instagram: Dancing Conehead Art.

Through these experiences, I've learned a great deal about myself and the world around me. My psychedelic journeys have not just been about the trips themselves, but about the insights and transformations they've facilitated. They've been instrumental in my personal and spiritual growth, helping me connect more deeply with myself and with others.

As someone deeply committed to exploring the depths of the human mind and spirit, I share these stories not to glamorize psychedelic use, but to highlight their potential as tools for profound personal growth. For those among us, the Doomer Bloomers, who are on a similar path of exploration and self-improvement, I hope my experiences resonate and inspire.

Continuing the Journey: New Friends, New Perspectives

As the summer of 2018 transitioned into fall, my journey of mind expansion and self-discovery took an interesting turn. During my lifeguard apprenticeship program, I met Sam, a fellow adventurer on a similar path of exploration. Our meeting was serendipitous, a chance encounter that led to a profound connection and shared experiences.

Sam, like me, was intrigued by the potential of psychedelics to unlock new realms of consciousness and facilitate personal growth. Together, we delved deeper into the world of psychedelics, experimenting with both mushrooms and LSD during the fall of 2018. These experiences were different from my solo trips or the ones with my friend Jonathan. Sam brought a unique perspective, his insights adding new layers to our psychedelic explorations.

Our sessions together often took place in nature, surrounded by the serene beauty of the fall landscape. The changing colours of the leaves, the crisp autumn air, and the tranquil environment provided the perfect backdrop for our journeys. Each trip was a voyage into the unknown, a chance to peel back the layers of our consciousness and explore the depths of our minds.

The experiences with Sam were not just about the psychedelic substances themselves, but about the conversations, the shared moments of revelation, and the bonds of friendship that were forged. We talked about everything from the nature of reality to the intricacies of human emotions, our discussions often lasting long into the night.

These shared experiences with Samuel played a significant role in my ongoing journey of self-discovery. They reinforced my belief in the power of psychedelics as tools for personal and spiritual growth. With each trip, I gained new insights into myself and the world around me, insights that I would carry forward in my life and work.

As I reflect on these experiences, I am reminded of the importance of companionship and shared journeys in our quest for understanding and growth. Whether it's with old friends like Jonathan, new friends like Sam, or even strangers who become family at festivals like Shambala, each person we meet on our path brings something valuable to our journey.

To my fellow Doomer Bloomers, I share these stories as a testament to the transformative power of shared experiences and open minds. Our journeys are not just about the destinations we seek, but also about the people we meet and the lessons we learn along the way.

The Last Chapter: Tumbler Ridge – A New Beginning and Deeper Connections

In the summer of 2019, my life took a significant turn as I moved to Tumbler Ridge. This transition marked a new beginning in my journey, both professionally and personally. As a wind turbine technician for General Electric, I was stepping into a new role, embracing the challenges and opportunities it brought. But beyond my professional endeavours, Tumbler Ridge offered a unique landscape for my continued exploration of psychedelics.

In this serene and secluded environment, I found a deeper connection with nature. The vast landscapes and the quietude of Tumbler Ridge provided the perfect setting for introspection and exploration. It was here that I used magic mushrooms to connect with what I can only describe as 'infinite intelligence'.

These experiences were profound, transcending the ordinary and allowing me to tap into a higher level of consciousness. The insights I gained during these trips were transformative, offering clarity and a deeper understanding of the universe and my place in it.

But it wasn’t just a journey of solitude. This chapter of my life was also about strengthening bonds and creating new memories with friends. T and A, a married couple from Kelowna, joined me in Tumbler Ridge when Terrance moved for work at the coal mines.

Their presence added a new dimension to my psychedelic experiences. We explored the realms of consciousness together using LSD and MDMA, substances that, in the right settings, can facilitate profound emotional and spiritual connections.

Our sessions were filled with deep conversations, laughter, and moments of shared awe. T and A, with their unique perspectives and experiences, brought new insights into our discussions. We talked about everything from the intricacies of our work lives to the broader questions about life and existence. These experiences with them were not just about the psychedelic substances, but about the joy of shared exploration and the bonds that form when people journey together.

As I reflect on my time in Tumbler Ridge, I realize how these experiences have shaped me. The combination of professional growth, deep connections with nature, and the shared experiences with Terrance and Anna have been integral to my journey. They have helped me grow, not just as a professional in my field but as an individual seeking deeper understanding and connection.

To all the Doomer Bloomers out there, I share this final chapter of my story to illustrate that growth and exploration come in many forms. Whether it’s through professional endeavours, solo trips in nature, or shared experiences with friends, each step we take is a part of our journey toward understanding ourselves and the world around us. Embrace these moments, for they shape who we are and who we become.

Conclusion: The Ongoing Odyssey

This journey, from the streets of Vancouver to the serene landscapes of Tumbler Ridge, has been more than just a series of psychedelic experiences. It has been an odyssey of personal and spiritual growth, of deepening connections with others, and of professional development. Each step, each trip, and each conversation has contributed to a deeper understanding of myself and the world.

To my fellow Doomer Bloomers, I share this story as a testament to the transformative power of exploration – both external and internal. Our paths may differ, but the journey toward understanding, connection, and growth is a shared one. Embrace the journey, for it is in these experiences that we find our true selves and our place in the universe.

Remember, this journey is as much about the destination as it is about the path we take to get there.
